The Long, Hot Wait

I really believe that August must be the longest month of the year. Yes, there are a few other months that have 31 days, so technically it just ties for the longest month. But the humid heat and lack of vacations for me in August have always made this month just drag.

August is just a hot and sweaty waiting room for all of the good stuff to happen. Waiting for the new tv season to start. Waiting for a fun girls trip to Hill Country in September. Waiting for Halloween (when you have kids, it is something to look forward to). Waiting for cooler weather. Waiting for the holiday season (Thanksgiving - Christmas). And this year, waiting for our baby girl to arrive.

With so many things to look forward to, who can blame me for wanting August to hurry up and be finished!

Wiggle Time!

On Saturday, Jon and his brother Dan had plans with their brothers to celebrate Dan's recent promotion to captain in the fire department. So with two kids and a free Saturday night, what else would two moms do? Of course, take the toddlers to go see The Wiggles live in concert!

The day didn't start off great for JD and I since he refused to take a nap on Saturday. I was frustrated because I'm thinking that a grouchy toddler, pregnant mom and 2,000 screaming kids weren't going to be a great mix.

Dan's wife Heather and their daughter Kenna came over and we headed out to the concert, which was about an hour away. We played Wiggles dvds the whole way for the kids, just to get them warmed up!

By the time we got there, the kids were already pretty excited. We arrived with 15 minutes to spare, which was the perfect amount of time! JD kept asking when the Wiggles would come out.

When the concert started, both kids started clapping and dancing. JD did all of the motions along with the songs that he knew (which was most of them).

It was pretty entertaining and just the right amount of time. JD loved seeing his favorite characters on stage. He called them "The Big Wiggles."

Both of the kids did really well, considering it was dinner time (5:00 start time) and they started getting a little sleepy toward the end. I know JD LOVED it!

We stopped for a quick bite to eat on the way home and had the kids bathed and put to bed by 9:00 pm. The kids went down without a peep - they were pretty pooped!! What a great Wiggly time together!

(Thanks Heather for the pics! My camera ran out of batteries!)

Having a Ball

The other night, Jon was working with JD on catching and throwing a ball. Our son is still working on his coordination in this area, but he still had a good time!!

His belly laugh was cracking us up all night long!

First Visit Under the Big Top

The circus is in town! We decided to take JD to his first ever visit to the circus this past weekend.

He was pretty overwhelmed with all of the sights and sounds at first and just needed to point out everything that he saw.

JD loved the motorcycles in the round ball contraption and all of the vehicles that they paraded in during that segment.

He also liked the performing mini horses, tigers and elephants. He hasn't really stopped talking about them yet!

We tried some circus food - cotton candy and popcorn. The popcorn was a big success (as usual), but he DID NOT like cotton candy and wouldn't even try a second bite of it. Oh well - more for me!

It was a very enjoyable afternoon and we are looking forward to taking both of our kids to the next one!
